There are roughly 600,000 horses in the UK however only a very small percentage of these horses and ponies are suitable for RDA.

Equines are naturally flight animals so finding horses and ponies that are willing to go against this instinct is no small task. Therapeutic riding requires the horse to have a great deal of patience and tollerance as well as being quiet and safe in a large number of different situations.

People who are not involved in RDA often pressume all the horses we use are slow, chunky and do not require to be well schooled. In reality our horses have to be great multitaskers and are schooled to a high standard to not only ensure they are balanced and supple but because they also compete to a high standard in RDA Dressage competitions in walk, trot and canter.

So the RDA horse really needs appreciating as they are a rare breed. Remember, without the horses there would be no RDA!
