RDA Activities

Beechley Stables RDA aims to make the site a North West Centre of excellence for Riding for the Disabled and is currently expanding its portfolio and services. Horse Riding is and always will be the main focus of the Centre but a whole host of other activities are being added or expanded.

Types of Riding

- General Rides

Usually we use tactile equipment to help increase enjoyment and therapy. This is also very good practice for the Handy Pony section ('The Countryside Challenge') at the RDA shows.

- Riding Out (known in the horse world as hacking)!

Our all weather woodland track is a safe and enjoyable environment for riding especially as we often see the odd fox or squirrel. The woodland track is a great place to practice Endurance riding.

- Dressage

Dressage involves the rider directing the horse in a series of set movements. Tests range from walk only tests right up to complicated walk, trot and canter tests. Dressage is an excellent way to monitor the progress of some of the more independant riders.

- Show Jumping

Jumping may not be for everyone but several of our riders enjoy popping over a small jump and basic grid work makes for a good and entertaining steering exercize.
