Ride Volunteers

Leaders

Control of horse/pony.

Safety of rider (if rider is sidewalked then the bulk of this responsibility falls on the sidewalker).

Checking horses tack prior to rider mounting.

Controlling horse for mounting and dismounting.

Listening to and following instruction from the Lesson Instructor.

Taking horses/ponies to and from the stables and riding arena.

Sidewalking

Rider safety.

Communicating and simplifying Instructors commands and corrections to the rider .

Encouraging and praising rider.

Help riders maintain their position as guided by the Instructor.

Giving information back to the Instructor about the rider, when required.

Other Roles

Fundraising

Volunteering with Fundraising can have many varied roles from simply just making yourself available to help at certain events (for example on a stall at the Christmas Fair or bag packing at the local supermarket) to helping organise single or multiple events with or as part of our Fundraising.

Instructing

Beechley Riding Centre would be delighted to aid in the training of new Instructors or those interested in becoming a log book holder (the first step to becoming an RDA Group Instructor). The process can take from between 18 months to two years as three assessments are required at least 6 months apart. Log book holders are entitled to teach under the supervision and training of an instructor. Once completing the assessments an RDA GI can instruct a session independently.

Ride Organiser/Office Working

Ride Organisers work with the Instructor and Centre Staff to communicate any important information to riders and volunteers of that particular session. They also help with paperwork and record keeping (hat sizes etc). This is ideal for volunteers whose fitness is not up to helping on the ground with the rides for whatever reason.

Equine Volunteer

Volunteers who wish to help on the stable yard providing care to the Equines are needed every day of the week. No previous experience is required, just a willingness to learn. Experienced riders are also welcome.
