Beechley Stables RDA is a member group of the National Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving. National Charity Number: 244108.
"Providing therapeutic riding to disabled people to promote their health and wellbeing"
Equestrian Vaulting is a form of gymnastics on horseback. This can range from something as simple as sitting on the horse without holding on to doing shoulder stands on the horse and cart wheeling off!
As an activity Vaulting is great for improving fitness, mobility, balance and flexibility as well as increasing confidence and creating friendship groups and team spirit. In RDA Vaulting the sessions have a mix of disabled and able bodied participants who aid each other in the learning process.
Vaulting is a great way of a large group of people enjoying an equine activity as only one horse is needed for the session. Before anyone gets on the horse they must first warm up correctly and practice on a customised barrel. A variety of fun games and exercises are used throughout the sessions to keep participants active.
We are hoping to set up vaulting at the stables. Watch this space!
